Home Invader Beats, Holds Woman Hostage In Northern VA: PD

A 22-year-old man broke into a woman's home through an unlocked sliding glass door and held her hostage in Prince William County, authorities said.

Davaughn Higgins broke into an apartment on the 15000 block of Sunny Ridge Court, in Woodbridge, authorities said.

Davaughn Damani Higgins got into the apartment at Misty Ridge Apartments in the 15000 block of Sunny Ridge Court, in Woodbridge, and then destroyed it around 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, Prince William County police said.

When the homeowner arrived home, her apartment was a mess — and Higgins was inside. Higgins immediately grabbed the victim and pulled her into the apartment, then refused to let her leave. At one point during the encounter, Higgins struck the victim and grabbed her neck, police said.

Higgins and the victim separated and remained inside the apartment before police arrived.

The victim reported minor injuries and Higgins was arrested on charges of abduction, strangulation, unlawful entry, assault, and property damage.
